You received a referral, what to do
A practice referred a patient to you and Syncroly sent you a secure link. This guide walks from that email to the referral in your inbox, for providers who already have a Syncroly account.
The email you received
A practice that uses Syncroly referred a patient to you. Instead of a fax or a voicemail, Syncroly sent you an email with a secure link to the referral. The email names the referring provider, so you can see who the referral is from.
Open the link
Syncroly sends this link to providers who already have a Syncroly account. Some of these emails go straight to the referral in your inbox rather than to the page described below. If yours opens the referral itself once you sign in, skip to Find the referral in your inbox.
- In the email, open the referral link.
- Check the page titled
New Referral for You. It shows the referring provider, the reason for the referral, and when it was sent.

Sign in to open the referral
- On the referral page, select
Sign in to view referral. - Sign in with your Syncroly email and password. The referral opens as soon as you are signed in.
Find the referral in your inbox
- In the sidebar, open
Received. - Search for the patient by name.

The search matches the patient name, not the referring practice. Every row in the list names where the referral came from, the practice when Syncroly has one on file and the referring provider otherwise, so you can also find it by reading down the list. New referrals are marked New.
What to do next
- Open the referral to see the patient's contact details, the reason, and any notes, files, or chart the referring practice attached.
- Contact the patient to schedule.
- Select
Mark as Contactedso the referring practice can see that you reached out. - When the appointment is booked, select
Mark as Booked. The referring practice seesBookedon their side.

If the patient booked with you straight from their referral link, the referral already shows Booked and the button reads Confirm referral was booked instead. Select it as soon as you can see the appointment on your schedule. It confirms the booking is real, not that the visit has happened, so there is no reason to wait until the appointment date.
Every step you record is visible to the referring practice, so nobody has to call to ask whether the patient booked.
