You got a referral link, what happens next
A practice you have seen has sent you a referral through Syncroly. Here is who sent it, what you are agreeing to when you open it, how to pick a practice and confirm a booking, and what happens to your details.

Who sent you this link
A practice you have seen sent you a referral, and it used Syncroly to send it. Syncroly is the software a practice uses to pass a referral to another practice, in place of a paper slip or a phone call. You do not need an account. The link in the email is the whole thing.
The email arrives under the name of the practice that referred you, with via Syncroly after it. The subject line names that practice as well, and the button inside reads View Your Referral.
If you would rather check before opening it, call the practice you were seen at and ask whether they sent you a referral. The office can confirm it in a moment. A Syncroly referral link also points at an address on syncroly.co.
What you see when you open it
Which page you land on depends on how your referral was sent.
If the practice that referred you asked you to choose where to go, you see a short agreement screen first, with one button reading Yes, I Agree. Your referral opens once you select it.
If the practice sent your referral to one specific practice, there is no agreement screen and your referral opens straight away.
What the agreement screen is asking
The screen names the practice that referred you and says that continuing lets Syncroly share your referral information with one or more of the practices listed on the next screen. That happens when you share with a practice from its card, and when you confirm a booking with one of them. You can review the practices before you do either, and you can stop at any time.
Your referral holds your name, your contact details, the reason you were referred, and any notes the referring practice wrote. Selecting Yes, I Agree opens it for you to read. On its own it sends nothing to anybody.
There is no decline button. Closing the page is how you decline: none of the listed practices receives your referral, and nobody is told that you looked and stopped. Your link keeps working until it expires, so you can come back to it later.
The practice that referred you can see that the referral has not moved, and may call you about it. If you have decided not to go ahead, telling them closes it out.
If you were given a choice of practices
The page opens with your first name, the name of the person who referred you, the reason for the referral, and a short What to do next list. Below that are the practices they recommend, up to three of them, with a map.
Each card carries the practice name, the person to ask for, the address with a Directions link, the phone number under Call to schedule, and a Website link. The button on the card reads Share my referral with this practice, or Share my referral with this provider when the card names one clinician rather than a practice.
- On the card for the practice you want, tick
Also ask them to contact meif you would rather they called you. - On the same card, select
Share my referral with this practice. - On that card, call the number under
Call to schedule, or openWebsite, and arrange a time. - On that card, select
I booked thisonce you have an appointment.
Sharing sends your referral to that practice, and from that point they can see your details and get in touch. You can share with more than one. Once a card has been shared with, it reads Referral sent and its button changes to I booked this.
A card that already reads Referral sent when you first open the page has had your referral sent to it by the practice that referred you, on your behalf.
If you already booked with one of these practices over the phone, the card carries a link reading Already booked here? Mark as booked and share, which records the booking and shares the referral in one go.
If your referral went to one practice
Some referrals are sent to a single practice, picked for you. The page carries a short How to schedule list, then a banner naming that practice and telling you the office already has your details, then the card for that practice with the same Directions link, phone number under Call to schedule, and Website link.
There is nothing for you to share here, and closing the page does not withhold anything. The practice that referred you confirmed on your behalf when it sent the referral, which is what an office does when it phones another practice for you. If you would rather the referral did not go ahead, call the practice that referred you and tell them.
- On the practice card, call the number under
Call to schedule, or openWebsite. - Arrange a time with that office.
- On the card, select
I booked thisonce you have an appointment.
After you say you booked
Selecting I booked this tells the practice that referred you that the appointment is arranged, and the card reads Booked. The appointment itself belongs to you and the practice you called: Syncroly does not hold it, move it, or remind you about it.
Where you had a choice of practices, a booking is final once recorded. If you marked the wrong one, contact the practice that referred you and they can sort it out.
If you leave the referral untouched for a few days you may get one reminder email about it. It carries a fresh link to the same referral, so an older email going out of date is not a problem.
What happens to your details
Your link is private and time-limited. It opens your referral and no one else's, and it stops working on its own after a while. Syncroly records when the referral was opened and when you agreed, which is how the practices involved can show they had your permission.
A practice can see your details once it has your referral, and not before. Where you were given a choice, that means after you share with it, so a practice you did not pick learns nothing about you. Your information is not used for advertising.
The link works for whoever holds it, so treat it the way you would treat the referral letter itself rather than forwarding it on.
If the link does not work, or something looks wrong
The page says Link expired. Referral links do not last forever. Call the practice that referred you and ask them to send a new one. Your referral itself is unchanged, so anything you already did is still there when the new link opens.
Your name, email, or phone number is wrong on the referral. Tell the practice that referred you. They can correct it and send you a fresh link; when it is your email or phone number that changes, the old link stops working at the same time.
You cannot find the email. Look in your spam or junk folder, and search for the name of the practice that referred you rather than for Syncroly. If it is not there, the practice can send it again.
A practice on your referral is no longer available. The page says so where the card would be, and points you back to the practice that referred you for a new recommendation.
